The United Way of Rockland County (UWRC) leads the Healthy Haverstraw coalition. Healthy Haverstraw has been in existence since January 2017 when the United Way brought together Village of Haverstraw government officials, North Rockland School District officials, local faith based groups, and residents of the Village to have a community conversation centered around participant’s views on factors that influence their health and well-being, identifying what works and what doesn’t work in the health care delivery system, and identifying what is needed to enhance delivery and utilization in order to improve the quality of their lives.

Through the collaborative efforts of everyone involved with Healthy Haverstraw more than 3,000 people have been educated about health-related community resources, various topics related to living a healthy lifestyle and/or had a health screening during that timeframe.

UWRC will be bringing this same coalition model to other parts of Rockland County.
